Ana (Juliette Binoche) is reunited with her estranged Israeli stepbrother, Uli, when he
travels to France for the death of their father. She decides to return
to Israel to search for the daughter she gave up at birth 20 years ago.
Crossing frontiers by car, train and boat, Ana and Uli are caught up in
the turmoil and emotion of the military-enforced disengagement of
Israeli settlers from Gaza in 2005...
Disengagement
clearly refers to the Israeli government's current policies of
withdrawal from Gaza and the forced destruction of illegal settlements
established by Israeli citizens in the region's disputed areas. But, in
the imaginative hands of Amos Gitai, disengagement takes on another,
much subtler, more personal meaning. As the two levels of significance
speak to each other, Gitai employs all his considerable artistry to
explore the term both emotionally and intellectually. The result is one

Award-winning Israeli filmmaker Shimon Dotan will hold a discussion after the film! Prior to the screening at
7:00pm, wine and beer will be served.
ABOUT THE REEL INSIDER SERIES:
The Reel Insider series allows audiences to catch the newest in
independent, foreign and documentary film, 5 times a season (held over 3 months), with a discussion with an established critic and,
often, film talent. Mingle before
the screening with fellow film enthusiasts at a complimentary wine and beer reception at 7:00 PM.
Screenings begin at 7:30 PM. The announcement of films and their dates is made 3-6 weeks in advance of each event.

The Picture House
Several years ago a group of concerned citizens in lower Westchester organized to save the 1920s Pelham Picture House, now listed on the NY State Register of Historic Places, from the wrecking ball. The Picture House, recently restored and renovated, is now an independent film and education center. The Picture House entertains audiences with great movies – indies, foreign films, classics, shorts, animated films and documentaries from around the world. By inviting, actors, directors, producers, screen writers, and film critics to discuss their work, we bring the back lot to our front door.
